Jessica has spent her whole life with animals. Growing up on a horse boarding stable, she started riding at age 4 and showing at age 6 in gymkhana and Western pleasure. Over the years she branched out to all parts of the horse world, riding and showing in both English and driving. Jessica has been without horses for the past two years, as her life continues to branch out and endlessly gain knowledge in other parts of the animal world.
Jessica's interest in veterinary medicine began at a young age too; she gained a kennel job at a veterinary clinic while attending her agriculture high school. Her position developed to working as a technician assistant, and she then went off to school for it. She graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College with an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. After passing the national exam to become a certified veterinary technician, she worked in a small animal general practice for four years.
As her skills, knowledge, and confidence grew during general practice, she wanted to expand again. She spent some time in emergency medicine, but missed the client interaction including helping and educating. The general practice she was a part of became Fear Free Certified and did more continuing education in behavior. She had an interest in behavior prior to that due to growing up with horses. Jessica always found it fascinating how the horses would communicate with each other and would always appreciate the human animal bond. Her goal is to continue helping others by maintaining or improving the human animal bond with their own pets. She wishes to gain her specialty in behavior.
Currently Jessica lives with her husband, David, in the small town of Northfield, Connecticut. The barn her horses were raised in is now a renovated apartment for her current fur-family! She has two adult cats, Mitty and Dinah. She has a special needs kitten that she adopted, Navi. She has two sugar gliders, Athena and Artemis. In her spare time she enjoys writing, crocheting, and making miniatures out of clay.
